Intro/ Summary:

In season 2 we got tangible on good growth. We got web3 dirt under our fingernails as we supported 3 incredible projects in their own journey of growth. We wanted to get up close with the kinds of projects we want to see in the world to see what is useful to them and how the protein community can add value to them, and through them, to the world.

We were working in fertile ground - 38 members of the community were already working on projects to use web3 to make the world a better place and create new norms for what the new world of web3 might look like.

While we hoped to create a programme that would support the learning and development of the projects, this was also a learning process for the team. We were deploying new tools, new methods of working and trying to support projects that themselves were pioneers in a new ecosystem.

We know that we achieved a few of our objectives. We added value to the projects going through the process from selection all the way to the final 3 at demo day. We attracted impressive people and talent from across the web3 universe at very short notice to deliver impactful sessions. At least one of the projects added a Good Growth dimension to their plans.

There were also some useful lessons. The most relevant were around the ways in which we didn’t bring the whole community along; the need to have more focus in the recelerator on good growth; and tied to that, the need to be clear on good growth indicators and metrics so we can gauge project progress as well as our own.

Recelerator in a nutshell

We decided for season 2 to try to create synergies among grantees to maximise impact by aligning around missions - directing all our resource at a single outcome. All the community was invited to submit projects which were then clustered into 6 different missions. Community then voted on which mission we would focus on: Mission 6 bringing underrepresented groups transition into the new economy.

The recelerator itself (regenerative accelerator geddit) consisted of: a series of expert talks with Q&As from project members; an allocation of $USDC and $PRTN; the invitation to create bounties within the community discord to engage our strong creative web3 savvy community. There was a midway reflection presentation and we finished up with a Demo Day.

We have huge gratitude to the wise web3 heads that filled us with inspiration an practical knowhow to take our projects forward - find the sessions recorded to benefit yourself here;

Value

There were some tangible outcomes to the recelerator. Two of the projects launched NFT collections, enabled by the funds. We also found an off ramp into fiat for a project in the Ivory Coast that had previously been unable to turn any web3 sales into supporting operational or personal expenses.

Input from the legal expert Dave Rodman led to one project registering as an LLC in Wyoming, an important first step in becoming a DAO in their own right. This session was also helpful to Wonderseed in reframing their journey to onboard a philanthropic entity into web3, and focusing on convincing the governance of the non-web3 body to consider this route seriously.

Severin’s session on community strategy helped Zouzoukwa reorient from product first (NFTs) to community first.

The treasury management session was bookmarked by the projects who recognised the immense value of XXXX’s input, even if they were perhaps not quite ready to put into practice. They did howeer, highlight the utility of being able to see down the road at what they should be thinking about and preparing for.

XXXXXXs session on pitching and getting investment was welcomed

A “pre-qual” talent pool of protein members made recruiting V01D discord mod easy. They assumed a degree of alignment, intention of protein community members .
